Cricket is a popular spectator sport in Hobart and regular international and Australian test matches and are held at Hobart's impressive Bellerive Oval stadium, during the summer months. Seating more than 12,000 people. Hobart's main cricket team is the Tasmanian Tigers, who have gained a strong and loyal following in Hobart. The cricket season in Hobart runs from October until March.

Australian Rules Football is run by the Australian Football League (AFL) and is often simply referred to as 'The Footy' by locals in Hobart. Regular games are held at the Bellerive Oval, attracting many thousands of cheering spectators.
