Hobart Tourist Information and Hobart Tourism
(Hobart, Tasmania - TAS, Australia AU)
Hobart is situated on the large island of Tasmania and Hobart is the southern most capital city in Australia. Straddling the breathtaking Derwent River, Australia's deepest harbour, Hobart is without doubt one of most beautiful areas in both Tasmania and Australia, with Hobart's background being dominated by the nearby Mount Wellington. Hobart is actually known for being a particularly dry area of Australia, although Hobart does contain many green and lush national parks and botanical gardens.
With numerous heritage areas close to Hobart city centre, just waiting to be explored, Hobart is rich in history and the city of Hobart was founded in 1803. Hobart regularly features many exciting festivals and events, including the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, a spectacular race which finishes at Hobart's waterfront at the end of each year in Hobart.
There are a good selection of Hobart tourist information outlets, located in and around central Hobart, nearby areas of Tasmania, and also at Hobart Airport (HBA), Tasmania's largest airport. Most of the hotels in Hobart are built from golden sandstone or brick and many of Hobart's hotels are historic buildings in their own right, dating back to the late 19th century or before. Hobart's top-end hotels are surprisingly cheap and luxury accommodation in Hobart is often low enough to encourage even budget travellers to stay a night or two in the most luxurious hotels.
